Mashed at half size in the urn, which then stopped working during the boil. Boil continued using as much wort as possible (about half). Wort was then split into two fermenters and diluted to 25 litres in each. Gravities weren't exactly the same to start (1039 and 1041) so average used above. Safale-S04 yeast from the original OB was used (after a starter). The fermenters are brewing unevenly. At racking one measured 1017 and one 1012 with the lower gravity one notably clearer. Higher gravity rack put on the heating pad.
Turns out that one of the batches became infected - disgusting smell and taste, so we threw it out. The second batch seemed okay although not promising in its flavour or colour. Still bottled anyway with 120 g priming sugar. This needs trying again properly!
